Vacation Photos: Caye Caulker, Belize

Last month we took the dreamiest week-long vacation to Caye Caulker, Belize. A few of our friends have gone to Belize recently, and their stories were so inspiring, we had to go. We found amazing roundtrip flight deals (less than $400 roundtrip from SFO - BZE), so we spontaneously booked it and let all of the other details fall into place.

One of the best things about traveling to the islands is that they're super accessible. We flew into Belize City and then took a 5 minute (!) Tropic Air flight to Caye Caulker. Some people choose to island hop, but on our friends' recommendation, we went to Caye Caulker and posted up for the entire week. We stayed at the Iguana Reef Inn, which I highly recommend. It was hands down the most expensive hotel on the island, but at ~$120 / night, it still felt affordable.
Caye Caulker is the most colorful, picturesque little island. For the most part, they don't permit cars on the island, so everyone walks, bikes, or drives golf carts around. Every day, we went diving, kayaking, or swimming in the morning, ate lazy lunches of grilled fish and Belikin beer, and then relaxed by the ocean all afternoon. It's the perfect vacation spot if you're looking for a place to recharge.
One morning, we borrowed a colorful kayak from our hotel and paddled over to The Split, which is a popular hangout for locals and tourists alike. I hung out in the shade (no surprise that I was already sunburnt by day 3) and drank coconut margaritas.
Since we're both into scuba diving, we went diving for 3 days during our trip. We booked dives through Belize Diving Services, which was an amazing choice. We were both completely blown away by the vibrant reefs and marine life in Belize. We also crossed a major item off our bucket list when we dove 150 feet into the Blue Hole. Since the Blue Hole is ~2 hours from Caye Caulker, we made a day of it and had lunch on a tiny deserted island close by. I think we both agreed this was our favorite day of the entire trip.
Our hotel was on the west coast of the tiny island, so the sunsets were unreal. We ended every day on adirondack chairs on the dock with beers in hand. I'd love to jet myself back there right now. :)
Cheers, Belize! We love you so much.
