Valentine's Day 2014

Here's a secret: I really look forward to Valentine's Day every year. In an embarrassing way. Maybe it's because it helps me break through the January blues, or maybe it's because I really love the color pink, or maybe just because I'm sappy and love celebrating love for one cheesy day a year.
Luckily my BFF gets into the spirit too - she used to go all out for V-Day in college and hung a heart-shaped wreath on our apartment door. This year, Kristina sent me the sweetest care package for Valentine's Day, complete with a gorgeous pink shade of Kate Spade lipstick, hazelnut chocolates, a sparkly gold sports headband, heart tea towel, and fun paperclips. So thoughtful and it totally brightened my entire week. So good to have sweet friends!
Even Google was in the holiday spirit and served up a trio of Valentine's Day-themed desserts at lunch last Friday. How cute are the silver sprinkles?
Continuing with my cheesy-ness, Lucas gave me this unbelievably beautiful flower arrangement from Church Street Flowers in SF. They've been looking so gorgeous in our apartment all week. He also surprised me by booking me a blowout appointment here right after work, which was so thoughtful and the perfect way to end a stressful week and get into a relaxing mood for our date night. Amazing experience and such a treat.

We had a romantic date night at SPQR in Pacific Heights, where the food/wine is amazing. It was the perfect first Valentine's Day as a married couple. To be sappy for a moment, I feel so incredibly lucky to have my sweet husband in my life, who makes me happy on Valentine's Day and everyday. Hope you all had an amazing (Hallmark-but-who-cares) holiday as well! xo

NYC BFF Trip

Some of my best college memories are the Spring Break trips I took with my BFF-since-kindergarten/former roommate, Kristina. We went to NYC our sophomore year of college, and since that's been a whopping 5 years ago, we're planning a reunion trip for this March. Here is a picture from the Facebook album I created after our first trip, appropriately titled "A Gossip Girl Spring Break!"
Last time we stayed in a hostel (!!!) where we shared a room with 8 international travelers. I remember feeling a little nervous that we'd come back and all of our things would be gone...luckily that didn't happen. This time we're stepping it up and staying the cool Ace Hotel, which I'm pumped to check out. Each room is slightly different and the downstairs bar is supposed to be rad.
Currently on our to do list: visiting High Line, eating lunch at Chelsea Market, drinking coffee on the steps of the Met, spending a day in Brooklyn to channel our inner Hannah Horvath, doing brunch at Tartine, taking a SoulCycle class, and going to the top of the Empire State building (because sadly we were too poor to do this last time). :) Any other recommendations? xoxo

PS - my post about my NYC trip with Lucas last year.

Flower Workshop

I just registered for this Studio Choo flower workshop in SF and couldn't be more excited! Whenever I try to arrange flowers, I feel like they just flop around in the vase, so I'm looking forward to picking up a few tips from these experts. There are so many cool farmer's markets in the Bay Area and the SF Flower Mart sells wholesale flowers, so I hope that I can soon put my new skills to use.  xo

PS - for those of you in NYC, this workshop also looks amazing.

Wedding on Ruffled

Our wedding was featured on Ruffled last week, which was such a sweet surprise. Head over to Ruffled to read about our inspirations, vendors, and wedding day, if you'd like. :)
