Kristina's Visit!

My best friend, Kristina, is coming to visit me in DC this weekend! She came a few months ago, but the snow ruined our sightseeing plans. I am so excited to go on adventures with her this weekend, and the weather is supposed to be gorgeous!

Here are our plans for the weekend:

1. Go see The Last Song. Yes...as in the Miley Cyrus movie that looks so terribly good.

2. Go see the cherry blossoms and all of the monuments along the way...

3. Go to The Gibson, which is a prohibition era-inspired speak easy on U Street in DC (SINCE I'M 21 AS OF YESTERDAY..WOOO)!

4. Go on a run to the Washington Monument and back.

5. Eat amazing food at Founding Farmers or Farmers and Fishers!

6. Eat cupcakes...because that is a given.

Decorative Prints

I work on the Hill, and although the city is great, it is very fast paced and stressful at times. It is hard to remember that outside of the bubble of DC that people are not constantly arguing and fighting over issues. I also live with 10 girls and we all have very different personalities, which can cause drama at times...

Sometimes I just need to remind myself to be calm and that everything will be okay. Lucas has such a calming personality, and usually he is the one that keeps me sane. Since he's not around right now, I ordered this WWII era-inspired poster: From KeepCalmPosters.

I am so excited about going back to Athens in a month! My room in Athens is decorated in black and cream damask, which I love, but the room is in desperate need for some color! I'm thinking about buying some prints for my apartment to snazz it up a bit. I love these prints:

I would love a "J is for Jill" print: From pistachiolove. Spotted on Bright, Bold, and Beautiful.

This print offers great advice: From dearcolleen. Spotted on A Cup Of Jo.

In LOVE with Katie Daisy's artwork. This is my favorite print from her shop: From Katie Daisy. Also spotted on Bright, Bold, and Beautiful.

April Showers...

Are coming soon! I really need some new rainy day gear. Here is my spring wish-list:

Prepared For Precipitation Umbrella: From ModCloth.

Right To Remain Stylish Jacket: From ModCloth.

Hunter Rain Boots: From Hunter.

*Update - Scored a great deal on navy Hunter rain boots on Ebay! So excited!*

The Doggie Gaga Project

OMG! This is so cute. Look at these pups dressed up in costumes inspired by Lady Gaga! Check out all of the pics by photographer Jesse Freidin here.

Mehndi Spice Cookies

I want to make the Mehndi inspired spice cookies. Wouldn't they make a great gift? They're so pretty that I'm not sure I could eat them though! Check out the recipe and directions here.

Mary-Kate & Ashley

Love them. Photo seen on Flickkkk.

Serendipity

The famous NY ice cream shop, Serendipity, has just decided to open a store in DC. Whoooppeeee! This picture of Seredipity's Fried Oreo Sundae is from joanna8555's flickr.

She & Him

The video for the new single, In The Sun, is so adorable. I love Zooey.

Golden Oscar Looks

I love the glamorous gold gowns this year! I loved (and hated) many of the dresses, but here are my three favorite looks of the night:

Cameron Diaz in Oscar de la Renta. My personal favorite of the night! You can certainly tell Rachel Zoe styled her, because her look is perfect.
Sandra Bullock in Marchesa. She looks completely stunning!
Miley Cyrus in Jenny Packham. I feel this is a little ill fitting (especially the top - too tight), but it is still a gorgeous gown.

Anthropologie Wedding Line!

OMG OMG OMG! I love J.Crew wedding dresses. I am so excited that Urban Outfitters, Inc. has decided jump on the bridal gown bandwagon by announcing a 2011 Anthropologie wedding line. I absolutely love the aesthetic of Anthropologie clothes, and all of the gowns will be between $750-$5000. L-O-V-E. Picture from Martha Stewart Weddings. Read more here.

Lucas on CNN

Last Friday, Lucas was asked to speak on a panel of college students on Ali Velshi's show on CNN. Lucas is the hardest working person I know, and throughout all of his activities, research, and internships in college he has attained a pretty solid knowledge of economic and political issues. He really did a great job! I am so so proud of him. To read some of the transcript of the show, visit Nick's blog.

MS Walk

I know I usually post about frivolous things, but this is a cause I'm really passionate about.

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a disorder that affects thousands of people and, up to now, has no cure. Fortunately, the fight to fix this is strengthening every day and I am proud to let you know that I have decided to participate in one of the primary outlets for this movement.

At the upcoming Walk MS event in Washington DC on April 17, 2010, I will be representing Lucas's mom, Linda "Zom" Puente, who, as many of you know, has MS. Despite the numerous ordeals she goes through on a daily basis, Zom remains one of the most inspirational and upbeat individuals anyone could ever have the pleasure to meet. Moved by Zom's courage and strength, we have established "Zom's Warriors", a team of walkers and fundraisers for this special event.

To help me in my mission, please visit my Personal Page. On this site you can learn more information about MS, sign up for a Walk MS event near you, and/or donate to our team.

For our friends that have already shown support, we appreciate you more than you know. You all are the best!

Xoxo ~ Jill
