Colorado Weekend

We made a trip to Colorado to visit my BFF, Kristina, this weekend. This was Lucas's first trip to Colorado, so we packed in as much as possible into our 3 days.
Sunset is definitely the time to fly. I even broke away from watching E! on demand for 30 whole minutes to enjoy this perfect light over the mountains.
On Saturday we drove up to Arapahoe Basin for a day of skiing. I was by far the weakest link in the group, but it was a really pretty day, so it was fun to be outside. Lucas was excited to bust out his go pro selfie stick, so the day was wellllll documented.

On Sunday, we drove to Boulder, which is about 30 miles outside of Denver. We hiked the Flatirons, which is a 3 mile round trip hike that kicks off in Chautauqua Park in Boulder. Afterwards, we walked around Pearl Street and soaked up the last of the sun before flying back to rainy SF.

In case you're planning a trip to Denver, these are the top places we ate:
  • True Food Kitchen - A healthy restaurant in the cute neighborhood of Cherry Creek. The panang curry was out of this world.
  • Tamayo - This is a Mexican restaurant in the cute area of Larimer Square. The margaritas and tacos were on point.
  • Rosenberg's Bagels - I would like to get down on my knees and beg for this place to open up a San Francisco location. There are super long lines, but its well work the amazing bagel sandwiches that magically cured our hangovers.
  • Patxi's - This is a Bay Area pizza chain, but they have a few locations in Denver as well. We ordered in deep dish and watched the Grammy's on Sunday night before jetting back home. Nothing like celebs and carbs to close out the perfect weekend!
And here were our favorite coffee spots:
  • Little Owl Coffee - A super tiny coffee shop in Lower Denver (LoDo) with the prettiest latte art (priorities!).
  • Crema Coffee House - A trendy spot in the River North (RiNo) district of Denver.
  • Laughing Goat Coffee - Roomy coffee shop in Boulder full of students studying. Come here if you want to feel really old and enjoy a perfectly made almond milk latte.
Love and miss you already, Buddy! xo

Dolores Park in San Francisco

This was one of those perfect SF weekends. The weather was 75 and sunny and everyone flocked to the beach and parks. We spent Saturday day drinking with friends in Dolores Park aka hipster paradise in the Mission. All of my favorite people came together and it was just the best day. Here are a few snaps from the boozy day.
Peace out, Dolores! See you soon!

Life Lately (At Least According To My iPhone)

Bike rides to Marina Green / Golden Gate Park, especially now since the Philz Truck is there EVERY WEEKEND. My prayers (and Tweets) have been answered.
Making way too many trips to Fort Point to check out the waves under the Golden Gate Bridge, since my husband is obsessed. If you'd like to see for yourself, check out his Go Pro footage.
Loving our small and messy apartment with great morning light.
We finally took a trip to the de Young Museum in SF's Golden Gate Park. They have an amazing photography exhibit right now by Janet Delaney called South of Market.
Ahh I love when there is perfect light during the golden hour. It makes me never want to leave California.
We went to the Bay Area Brew Festival with friends on Saturday and it was so fratty fun to catch up with everyone.
On Sunday we drove up to the Marin Headlands, where the views are insane. You can see both bridges, Sutro Tower, and the entire city peaking through the fog. Is it Friday yet?

January 2015 London Trip

I had a week-long work trip to London two weeks ago, and Lucas tagged along so we could be tourists in our spare time. I feel like I should just go ahead and re-name this post "Jill and Lucas Eat and Drink All The Things in London" because it's true and we did.
We stayed at the SoHo Hotel, which was so lovely and right in the thick of everything. Each room is uniquely decorated with fun patterns, and the rooms have huge windows that let a lot of natural light in (necessary to fight jet lag when you have to be at work at 9:00 am local time!). It was definitely one of those hotels that was tough to leave. What do you mean I don't get turn down service when I return home?!

Check out the view from the Google gym. They are too blessed in the UK.
My favorite area of London has to be Seven Dials in Covent Garden. It's filled with cute boutiques, shops, pubs, and restaurants. Our favorite Covent Garden spots were Hawksmoor for steak, Dishoom for the best Indian food I've ever had, and Cross Keys for pints. :) Some SoHo places that we loved were The Ape & Bird for pub food, Polpetto for tapas, TAP coffee for amazing lattes, and Cay Tre for great pho. Okayyy  done talking about food.
Just a few selfies of us drinking alcohol for good measure. :)
On our last day, we lucked into winning lottery tickets to see Book of Mormon in London's West End. It was the perfect way to end a fun trip. We miss you already, London!

December 2014 Singapore Trip

Just playing a bit of life catch up on the blog this week. First up: Singapore! I took a whirlwind trip to Singapore for a few days in December. It was my first time visiting the city / country, and my first time to visit Asia in 3 years. I did absolutely no research on Singapore before hopping on my flight (yikes!), so I didn't know what to expect at all.
The first thing I noticed about Singapore was the impressive architecture. The buildings are very modern and there are a ton of sky scrapers, especially in the business district we stayed in. The building above is the Marina Bay Sands and you can spot the ArtScience Museum (the lotus-looking building) and The Float (a floating stadium) towards the left side of the picture.
We went out one night for a traditional Singaporean meal of chili crab and pepper crab. We were really grateful to have our hosts, Grace and Jasmine, to take us to a local spot (JUMBO Seafood Restaurant in Dempsey Hill) and help us order the best dishes.
Singapore is insanely wealthy and the shopping is ridiculous. The malls are worth checking out for the experience alone. Think: lots of designer stores and impressive displays like this floating Louis Vuitton flagship store.
The country is really close to the equator, so it was incredibly hot and humid during our entire trip there. I did love the warm nights though, which made me nostalgic for my summers growing up in the South. During the evening, there are really impressive water and lights shows in the Marina Bay. Sadly after the show we headed back to our hotel to pack up and prepare for the grueling 22 hour flight back to the US. Already looking forward to my next trip! :)
