Peony Season

It's pretty much my favorite time of year: peony season. :) For a few, sweet weeks out of the year, Trader Joes carries inexpensive stems of peonies. Each bouquet is $6.99 and comes with 5 stems - I picked up these pale pink and hot pink bunches last weekend.
I created a large arrangement for the kitchen table and then scattered around a few small arrangements around the house.
I'm hoping to pick up a few more bunches before the end of the season. Happy Summer, y'all!

Thrift Store Finds

Our local Goodwill is just about the best thrift store that ever was. Here are a few goodies we picked up last weekend. Above is our new little brass clock that I thought would be the perfect knick-knack to sit on top of our new cabinet. Lucas doesn't really get the concept of knick-knacks, like candles, picture frames, and clocks that are not quite in working condition (we're working on it...), but he's slowly coming around. :) Below are our new little brass candle holders, which I love. Don't they look like the best of friends sitting all cute in our entry way?
We're collecting gold and silver picture frames to display old family photos at our wedding. I picked up the frame on the right and Lucas's parents look right at home in it. PS - isn't his mom gorgeous?
Our mail tends to pile up on the counter, despite how many times I swear to myself that I won't let that happen. I was thrilled to find this mail tray for a whopping $2! It doesn't count as clutter if it's in a tray, right?
Finally, someone decided to donate this brand new Target mirror to Goodwill. Welp...thanks whoever you are! I haven't found a new home for it yet, but I've definitely been brainstorming. It actually turns out that Kristina bought the same one at Target and it looks amazing hanging above her bed.
Until next time, Goodwill! XOX

Michelle Armas Print

I've been looking for a large, abstract painting or print to hang in our living room for months (see...this is proof of that!), but it's been hard for me to find something that I like in my price range. I've had my eye on Michelle Armas and her amazing paintings and prints, but I just couldn't quite pull the trigger and order one. Today her large prints were on mega sale on One Kings Lane and I took it as the universe's way of telling me I should order it. I even pinned this exact print a few months ago! So you're looking at the proud owner of a new abstract print, y'all. :)

Max Wanger Print Shop

The talented photographer, Max Wanger, just launched a lovely print shop. Wouldn't these look great hanging above a bed? His photography has such a relaxing feel to it.

Zara Home

When I was traveling in Europe, I loved walking through the Zara Home stores and secretly wished I could ship some of the furniture home. Luckily, Zara launched the US branch of Zara Home today - yippee! Check it out here.

Prettypegs

It's not difficult to recognize Ikea furniture. It's modern, simple, and featured in the home of pretty much every 20-something I know! Have you ever heard of Prettypegs? It is a Swedish company that sells stylish replacement legs for Ikea furniture. Genius!

Artwork for the Home

We've been in our townhouse for a year and a half now (where does the time go?). While we've been able to fully furnish our place, we're still working on filling our wall space. It's a bit hard to find pieces that we both love and can afford. Here are a few of my favorites right now.

The painting above is a Lulie Wallace painting. I recently ordered one of a custom floral arrangement that Lucas gave me, and I'm so excited that it should be done later this month.

Emily Green's watercolor paintings are lovely and we could choose colors that appeal to both of us:
This Nancy Ramirez print is really cool and would look awesome in a gold frame:

Caroline Wright has really amazing paintings, and I love her drip and line series:
I'd love to hear about any favorite artists that you may have. We're searching for a few things to adorn our walls and would appreciate any guidance!

Second-hand Finds

We spend a lot of time going to yard sales, thrift stores, and flea markets to search for furniture and goodies. As a result, we've furnished our townhouse almost entirely with second-hand furniture. Here are a few things we recently picked up.

Above is a green depression glass vase that we bought at a yard sale for $1 (the flowers are from the local farmers' market!). Below is our vintage bar cart that we picked up at the Alameda Flea Market for $20:
We found this brass piano lamp on Craiglist for $15. Today we saw a really similar one at Homegoods for $150!
This brand new World Market basket was at Goodwill for $1. The tags were still attached. Score!
Finally, this green storage cube from Goodwill recently joined the Turner-Puente household. It's the perfect place to stash blankets and computer cords to reduce clutter.

American Atlas Prints

I just ordered the print of the South from We Are Brainstorm for our living room. I love you, South.

Pretty Room

I love what they've done in this small room. I have a feeling I'll be forced to be creative with a small space in California. Think Lucas can get down with the idea of a turquoise color palette? Think I'll ever be rich enough to afford a fabric headboard? A girl can only dream! From Apartment Therapy.

Beautiful Desk Makeover

Can't wait to tackle some DIY projects next year in California. I'm loving this gorgeous desk makeover featured on Design Sponge today. The color of the desk and the antique touches are beautiful.

Globe Cluster

I love this globe cluster -- reminds me of this one. What a cute birthday party. SO unrealistic though because the second the guests arrived the cupcakes and pastries would be all astray and then it wouldn't look nearly as nice.

Lilly Pulitzer Furniture

The ridiculous southern girl in me loves Lilly Pulitzer and embarrassingly loves the way overpriced furniture line too. Check it all out here!

Oh Happy Room!

Love the exposed beams, pink and green pops of color, dark wood furniture, white sofa, EVERYTHING! One day I'll have a house full of pretty stuff. Seen on JPM Design.

Removable Wallpaper

I think I found a solution for five more years of renting - removable wallpaper! This great cream and black design is Kathy Ireland Easychange Wallpaper. From Sherwin-Williams via here.

Globe Cluster

Isn't this nursery so sweet? I'm obsessed with the globe cluster!

Kate Spade's Home

These pictures of Kate Spade's New York home are so cool! I want to live here. Check them all out here.

Christmas!!!!

Oh goodness I can't wait until Christmas. Why is school so stressful? This week while I was home we decorated the house. We put up wreaths outside, hung ornaments on the tree, set up our little villages, and decorated the mantle! It got me in the spirit!

We decorated the mantle with magnolia leaves from outside and poinsettias!

Our huge tree:

Hard to tell, but the outside is decorated too!

These Flower Fabric Garlands...

...are so pretty. Enter to win on The Coterie Blog!

(I think I like an army, golden yellow, pale yellow, and dark purple combination).
