I Remember Nothing by Nora Ephron

I just finished reading I Remember Nothing: And Other Reflections by Nora Ephron. The book is filled with a series of small essays where she shares small musings from her life. She links all of the essays to ultimately share an amazing story about growing older and the lessons she learned along the way. She closed the book by listing the things that she will and won't miss about her life, which I found to be inspiring and heartbreaking. She clearly lived such a rich life. Up next on my reading list is I Feel Bad About My Neck: And Other Thoughts On Being A Woman.

P.S. - have you read Tom Hanks' tribute to Nora Ephron? I also love this one, from Lena Dunham.

The New-Fashioned Wedding

I ordered this book in the mail and have been flipping through it over and over since receiving it. It is hands down the loveliest wedding book I've ever seen. The featured weddings are to die for. This book sort of makes me want to crawl into a hole because I can never plan a wedding so nice, but it also inspires me to be creative and think outside the box. If you're currently planning a wedding or just love weddings, do yourself a favor and drop everything and order this right this second! XOX

Wedding Planning Books

In the era of Pinterest and blogging, wedding planning can become a little overwhelming. There are so many ideas out there and so many directions you can go in, so I've found that it's easiest to stick to a few resources. In addition to following a few select wedding blogs and Pinners, I've found two really helpful books: Real Simple Weddings and Southern Living Wedding.
Since I'm planning a Georgia wedding with a barn reception, Southern Living Wedding is especially helpful. It was a thoughtful gift from my soon-to-be in-laws, and it's so useful. In addition to containing important information about wedding "to-dos," it also provides journaling space so I can stay organized throughout the year and then keep the book as a wedding planning keepsake.
Real Simple Weddings is actually a special edition of the magazine that hits stands once a year. I borrowed this from a friend and it's been incredibly useful during the planning process. This magazine provides a lot out-of-the-box ideas on everything from decor to invitations to favors.
So there we go! I'd love to hear about your favorite wedding or party planning resources.

Let's Pretend This Never Happened

I'm currently reading Jenny Lawson's memoir, Let's Pretend This Never Happened, for my book club. Lucas and I read it out loud in the car and many of the anecdotes from her life are laugh-out-loud funny.

Goodreads gives it 4.1 out of 5 stars. Jenny narrates the audio version, so I'm sure it's worth purchasing on audiobook too!

What books are you currently reading? I'd love recommendations.

Coralie Bickford-Smith Books

I have some of the Clothbound Penguin Books. They are so pretty. I am loving the new F. Scott Fitzgerald series by the same designer, Coralie Bickford-Smith. Bonus: they match my room!

Eat Pray Love

I am in the process of reading Eat Pray Love (it's been a lonnnggg summer read) but I hope to finish it next week when I go to the beach! I just found out that my mom is also reading it, and I want to go see the movie with her when it comes out in August!

Beach Reads

I am heading to Wilmington, NC (Lucas's hometown) for a little R&R this weekend. We're just going for four days, but I can't wait to go! After an intense semester in D.C., reading four books for class in one week, and jumping right back into my internship at UGA, I really can't wait to lay on the beach. I hope the weather cooperates with my beach plans. I plan to pick up a few books before going, to catch up on some much needed leisure reading. I know one thing for sure - I will not be reading any books about U.S. foreign policy!

Has anyone read Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert? I've heard good things, and now that the movie is coming out with Julia Roberts, I really want to read it! Let me know what you think!
I also want to read Born To Run by Christopher McDougall. I started running regularly about a year ago. Since then, I've noticed it taking a toll on my knees and joints. This book is supposed to be an inspiring story about how to make running enjoyable rather than work. I'm looking forward to reading it! Does anyone have any other beach read suggestions?

Coffee Table Reads

Kristina always gives me the best gifts. This year for my birthday she gave me two great coffee table books!

The first one is You Know You Want It by Eric Damon. He is the costume designer for Gossip Girl. The book talks about how to achieve great style while at the same time remaining true to yourself.
The other book is From A to Zoe by the one and only Rachel Zoe. In the book, Zoe spills her style secrets and shows readers how to develop their own personal style.

I can't wait to get back to Athens and put them in our living room!

XOXO

Snowy Weekend Reading

DC is so snowy right now - they are predicting 30 inches of snow this weekend! Yikes! As long as we don't lose power it will be great, because I'm looking forward to piling up in bed all weekend, drinking hot chocolate, catching up on Project Runway and Modern Family episodes, and reading a lot! I am reading several books for class, but I would rather be reading this:

Pretty Classics

Melanie recently posted these books on her blog and guesssss what? I will soon be the happy owner of some of these. I can't wait for these gorgeous classics to grace my bookshelf and brighten up my room! :)
